It is true that there is no charge, in money, from Spirit.  However, for that which Spirit gives to you, you are responsible and required to spend your energy and attention upon that which has been given to you in knowledge and wisdom or some other gift.

Money is a form of energy which is used in this physical octave in lieu of your personal energy.

Even though psychics provide a Spiritual Service, it is necessary to receive payment in today's world, for even though a Spiritual Service is rendered as a profession, psychics must pay bills and buy life necessities.
